memorial day

what better way to spend memorial day than at a baseball game?

my friend nate offered holly and i a couple extra tickets to the brewers vs cardinals game, so since we had no real plans other than sunshine & relaxing, we of course accepted.

plus, it provided holly with her very first tailgating experience!

the whole group in front of miller park......yes, shawn is a cardinals fan in the middle of a bunch of brewer fans.

it was a pitching duel for a good chunk of the game.

holly's fave mike cameron had a spectacular game.  also, she enjoyed our seats since we were kind of close to him and had a good view.

i love the sausage race.  i cheered for hotdog.  he didn't win, but he sure looked happy none the less!

nate, greg, me & holly enjoying the afternoon.

the brewers ended up pulling it out over the cardinals in extra innings, so that made the day even better.  the brewers players were wearing red hats in honor of memorial day, which made it a little confusing when playing a team whose color is red, but it was a nice gesture to honor the soldiers serving our country.

currently, one of our closest family friends is in iraq on his 2nd tour of duty.  its strange to think of our crazy friend steve, who once got bitten by a squirrel when he caught it in a fishing net, now serving our country in the middle east.  but, it is amazing what they all do for us there. when i think of the sacrifices they make to be there and serve us, i'm humbled and thankful.  steve was my brother aaron's best friend growing up and now he won't be able to make it to aaron's wedding.  so thanks steve.

my mom and i are going to attach a picture of him to a stick and put it in pictures at the wedding.  we think that will be funny and he will appreciate it.  ;)  so look for that in a few weeks!
