what's the rumpus, ace?

a few years ago, my friend michael used to take cathy and i on "adventures."  we wouldn't know where we were going or what we would be doing, we would just pile in the batmobile (aka pontiac grand am) and head off into the sunset....or just to janesville.  ;)

well one such adventure, mike took us to the drive-in movie theater in jefferson.  i don't remember what movies we saw, but it was super fun.  since then, it's been one of my favorite summer activities.  of course it was a little more awkward when i was doing my student teaching and would run into my students there, but now its fine.

holly and i had been eagerly anticipating going there this summer and sunday night we were able to go with a couple friends from my life group.  holly, greg, lance, nate & i headed to jefferson after church on sunday and enjoyed watching night at the museum 2 & star trek.  it was super fun.

we sat outside for the first movie, well, holly and nate and i did.  greg and lance weren't quite as prepared and they went to the car halfway through.  ;)  holly and i thoroughly enjoyed amy adams as amelia earhart (hence the quote for this blog title) and even enjoyed star trek.  i had never seen any other star trek movies or episodes, so it was a good thing this one was supposed to be a prequel!  nate laughed at us as we tried to figure out why we knew certain actors without the aid of imdb.com .  we did pretty well.  ;)

anyways, it was a great night.  so thank you michael.  if it had not have been for your adventures, we probably would still be stuck inside watching movies!

No problem! I have many fond memories of the drive in. I was just telling someone about how I went to see a triple feature there with Andrew and Aaron, and had the coldest drive back ever in his wrangler without a top. Good time!
