i was excited to spend a day in madison with the girls showing them some of my favorite spots and just hanging out. we started out with a visit to the capitol and nate kindly gave us a tour. then the adults were off to have lunch with a friend of uncle robby's and we headed of to ian's pizza for lunch. mmmmmm. i introduced daniel and the girls to macaroni & cheese pizza, steak & fries pizza, and so much more. it was great.
then we headed back to the capitol to check out the observation deck and then headed down state street to explore a little. the girls picked up some wisconsin apparel (they know what is cool!) and we made a visit to the terrace. we drove around campus a little and visited holly at work.
the real excitement for the girls though came when we left madison that afternoon and headed to oshkosh for the taylor swift concert! one of olivia's birthday presents was tickets for the 3 of us to go and we had a great time. traffic was horrible on the way in, it took an hour to get from daniel's house in oshkosh, where we had dropped him off, to the country usa park. ugh. then we had a long wait until the concert actually started but we had a good time people watching and hanging out. we ended up with pretty decent seats for general admission despite the security guards constantly telling us to scoot in.
while we waited you could text in messages to be displayed on the big screen, so of course i had to send this since this was olivia's present!
the concert was actually pretty good. i hadn't listened to taylor swift too much before this, other than her hits that were on the radio and such. but we had a great time. taylor had a LOT of costume changes, but was actually pretty impressive as she played and sang and basically got her revenge on boys who had hurt her or her friends. ;) pretty funny.
i don't know if you can see it in this picture or not, but her last song it basically rained on stage, but in the water they kept spelling "no" over and over again and then at the end (here) it spelled "me" in the water! kind of a cool effect.
after waiting so long for the concert to start, we really enjoyed the actual concert part and the girls were excited to tell all their friends about it. we headed to the car then where it then took us an hour and a half to just get out of the parking lot! ugh. the girls fell asleep in the car, but i got the joy of waiting and dealing with some ridiculous people. not sure if i ever want to go to country usa again.... but it was fun with the girls for this one time.
