after our late update last night (in case you didn't notice the time on the e-mail, we sent it out somewhere around 2 am), holly and i fully expected to sleep until we were rudely awakened by an annoying alarm. however, somewhere between 6:30am and 7:45am, both of us woke up and could not fall asleep again. lame. we still didn't leave emily's until 9, and we didn't even see a starbucks to stop at. it was a looooooooong day in nebraska. sorry Mrs. Bearclaw, but your state is pretty boring when you aren't in it.
highlights of the day......................
fields.
tractors.
holly opening presents (i'm pretty sure she liked them)
more fields.
sonic cherry limeades.
more fields.
not many trees.
holly opening more presents & cards (i got her 2 birthday cards that both had to do with sandwiches. i didn't even try to do that.)
construction.
lame trucks & campers.
more fields.
that was about it for the drive. oh, we listened to a lot more kristin chenoweth. som
eday we could definitely be besties. and we definitely also sang the entire wicked soundtrack. we could so be on broadway (at least according to holly's standards).
we made it to fort collins around 4:30ish mountain time. the dundores were in estes park, but they had left the door unlocked for holly. so we dragged all her stuff in, i gave her a hug, and i headed off to colorado springs. i don't know what she did the rest of the night, so she will have to fill you in on those adventures herself.
i made it to colorado springs safely and got what i had been waiting for.....a huge hug from cathy (for those of you who don't know, cathy and i have been bff since 3rd grade. yes 3rd grade. and we lived together for 4 years in college. i was the maid of honor in her wedding. sheesh, that was 4 years ago. yikes. we are getting old. how old are you amy? jk) i had fun meeting mike & cathy's dog sadie & the dog they are currently dog-sitting, riley. we had lasagna for dinner (mom, it even had spinach in it! cathy really does eat veggies now! i've seen it with my own 2 eyes!) which was delicious and then of course went out for ice cream. we made a quick stop to see the new place they are moving to. its kind of funny because i'm sitting in their current apartment now, but when holly & i come back after the conference, we will be staying at the new place! anyways, most of you don't know cathy, so this isn't all that exciting to you.
we played ticket to ride and then cathy and i talked for a good long while. whoops, she still has to teach summer school tomorrow morning! i have big plans to sleep in..... bummer for her. it was really good though. we both had been waiting for that for a while. anyways, that is all for now. i'm going to go get some much needed sleep and then wake up and enjoy staring at the mountains.
its going to be great.
love from the springs...
Miranda & Holly (kind of)
