Valentine's Day Dessert Outreach

right before Valentine's Day, i had the opportunity to attend a women's outreach at UW-Oshkosh. i had invited my brother's ex-girlfriend to the event and she agreed to go with me. she and Daniel had dated for about 5 years, so Steph and i have become friends and i wanted to find out more about her beliefs and introduce her to a few women on campus since Steph had just transferred to Oshkosh this year.

we had a really fun night. i picked her up and we grabbed some dinner together and then headed over to meet up with some of the Crusade women. the men arrived and gave us each a rose and then escorted us to the event. Steph was very impressed and surprised that these men that she didn't know at all would give her a flower and be so nice to her! the men seated us and served us drinks and dessert (i had a huge piece of white cake!).














after every one had been served, the men left and emily (one of the staff women i will be working with) welcomed every one and introduced the speaker for the night.


















Tiffany Thompson of Life Promotions was our speaker for the evening and she gave a great presentation of the gospel with a really cool visual trick using the colored water below.














one of the students i know really well at Oshkosh, Stephanie, performed in a drama set to the song "By Your Side" by Tenth Avenue North.














overall, the event was really successful. there were over 100 women there. we were a little worried for a while that there wouldn't be enough dessert to go around since so many women came! it was great to see that most of them were not involved in Crusade. this was their first exposure to who we are and to the message of real love found in Jesus Christ. i can't wait to get to campus and share that every day!
