26...

26 things about my 26th birthday:

1. this is what i woke up to. to really understand this, please watch the office "lecture circuit part one" :) i love the office.

2. had lunch with some amazing women.

3. please notice the ridiculously large shamrock shake on the table that was given to me when i walked in the door of noodles & co. that is one bonuses of not being in florida on my birthday. darn florida mcdonalds don't know what shamrock shakes are.

4. i babysit 3 afternoons a week. it just so happened that i got to baby-sit on my birthday which made 4-year old Grace so excited!

5. it was nice enough out on monday & tuesday that we got to play outside & go to the park!

6. it was also nice enough outside that i was able to wear my favorite flip-flops! oh how i've missed wearing them.

7. i got to play hopscotch which was actually pretty fun. i don't remember the last time i played, but the rules eventually came back to me. still can't believe i turned 26 and played hopscotch on the same day! :)

8. Grace let me use the blue chalk since she knows its my favorite.

9. since they figured i would want to get home asap on my actual birthday, the freiburgs (the family i baby-sit for) threw me a birthday party on tuesday. grace helped decorate my cake and sang happy birthday to me (she loves to tell everyone how great of a singer she is) and wrote on my birthday card for me. pretty cute.

10. i came home to our table being covered with my favorite things. daisies, pineapple, milk duds, and chinese food. mmmmmmmm.

11. there was a definite theme to my birthday present from steph! gotta love high school musical 3! now i just need to own the first two movies....

12. holly proceeded to pick out the most awkward card she could find. so i got hello kitty tattoos. there is a much longer story to this, but i'm going to leave it at that.

13. my roommate loves to give me gifts. she gave me a rather large gift for christmas that was supposed to be a partial birthday gift too. tickets to the april 12th chicago blackhawks vs detriot redwings hockey game! go redwings! i'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

14. apparently the tickets weren't enough though, she had to give me something on my actual birthday. so i got the devil wears prada dvd. another office joke that she had been quoting for weeks. "get me armani. on the PHONE!" :)

15. and again, the dvd wasn't enough so i also got a new tennis racket. maybe that will get me closer to actually winning a game. or not.

16. i love chinese food. look at all that glorious chinese food.

17. the last time i think i ordered that amount of chinese food was after a spring break trip at mike & aaron's old apartment in whitewater. mike wouldn't let me eat unless i used chop sticks. i've never used anything but chop sticks since then.

18. holly didn't like my fortune. but i thought it was appropriate and true. "you will move to a wonderful new home in the next year."

19. here is everyone who came over to help me eat all the glorious chinese food. from left to right: nate (he & i co-lead our life group), greg (in my life group), me, steve (in my life group), shawn (holly's boyfriend), holly (my roommate), lance (in my life group), stephanie (good friend who lives in milwaukee but came on her spring break!), aaron (my wonderful younger brother! hehe), and jennifer (on my madison staff team)

20. this is my birthday cake. holly picked it out. i don't know why there is a tool belt on it.

21. i felt a little like my dad, since we usually get a dairy queen ice cream cake for his birthday. i usually just have a regular cake, my brother aaron (his birthday is exactly one week after mine) always has chocolate eclairs that my mom makes, and my brother daniel (his birthday is a week and a half after aaron's) always has cherry pie. we try to mix it up a little so we aren't eating cake for 3 weeks straight. :)

22. i got to talk to my best friend cathy. she lives in colorado, which is really too far away. and it had been far too long since we had talked. definitely one of the high points of my day. :)

23. i had borrowed my parent's air mattress since we were having some friends stay with us. so holly decided every night would be a slumber party! so for about a week and a half, we slept in the living room on the air mattress. :)

24. we had to raid shawn's dvd collection to provide some movies for the slumber party since we've been through ours so many times already. not that it really stops us from repeating many of our movies. we just thought some new ones would be nice.

25. then we also decided that raiding the wal-mart $5 bin would be a good way to add movies to the slumber party collection. our cabinet is now running out of room for our movies. whoops.

26. i had a great birthday. thanks everyone!
