thursday, june 18, was olivia's 15th birthday! it was pretty fun to spend the day with her since we rarely see them, especially on actual birthdays. the day began with the miller birthday tradition of mickey mouse pancakes with whipped cream and m&ms. the pancake was served on the gehrke tradition of the special plate.
olivia really wanted to go to extreme world in the dells for her birthday, but due to the chance of storms, we decided to push that to a later day. don't worry. i will explain more about it then. so instead, we headed to oshkosh and did a little shopping at the outlets.
when we got back from shopping, my grandparents & my uncles (more from my dad's side of the family) had arrived and we all had a big dinner together. somehow, despite being 26 years old, i still got relegated to the "kids" table. ;)
i guess that was okay, because then i got to witness this special event:
trust me when i say that that is not a regular occurrence between those two. :)
one of my favorite parts of the night was when olivia opened her gifts. we had been plotting for a while now for a particular gift. there had been quite a bit of secret communication going on between california & wisconsin for this gift. the girls are big taylor swift fans, and olivia was very disappointed to find out that taylor's only concert dates in california were in los angeles and san diego. not close enough to the bay area for her. so siobhan had the brilliant idea of checking dates in wisconsin and sure enough taylor was playing in oshkosh at country usa while they were here! so we surprised olivia with tickets for her & siobhan & me to go to the concert! she was thrilled and immediately posted it on facebook to make all her friends jealous. ;) i think it was a successful birthday...
