anyways, yesterday....what happened yesterday....
holly was woken up by annie mulan crawling into her bed to cuddle. it was a low key morning in sweatpants playing some mario kart & reading her bible while the children colored. much different from her usual wednesday mornings.
miranda was woken up by her alarm. lame. she went to the first session of the conference. heather dundore rocked on the worship team and it was pretty sweet to be worshipping with oh, 5000 people or so.
also, her friend steph reminded her that every single person in the room knows what it is like to raise support. that is a lot of support sitting in that room! crazy.
anyways, you should all go out and immediately buy the reason for God and the prodigal God by Tim Keller. he was the speaker and he is ridiculously amazing. miranda took a lot of notes and will happily give you a copy of his talk. it was so good.
he gave an optional afternoon talk that both holly & miranda went to. heather dundore sat next to us and officially declared herself "tour guide of the man meat market of csu 2009." her new goal is to check out the men for us and "push, push, push." aka prod & initiate conversations for us. aka awkward. (we love heather dundore)
holly tried taking the four kids on a little excursion to the main session last night. that didn't last long. other than that, she went on a 5 mile run (still doing a pretty good job of sticking to her half marathon schedule) and just enjoyed fort collins at night.
miranda enjoyed dinner with some friends and the evening session was okay. lots of updates on ministry around the u.s. and a little info on where ministry is heading. (p.s. vonette bright opened the conference that morning with prayer. she is stinking adorable.)
afterwards she played nerts (a card game) with some friends and didn't do so well and then played settlers with some different friends and did much better even if she didn't win.
that was the end of day 5.
day 6!
miranda woke up waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too early and went to jazzercise with some friends. yes, jazzercise is offered for free here because a couple of staff women are licensed instructors. she tried it last summer and it is pretty fun. she might like zumba a little better now, but jazzercise is fairly similar. she made it back in time to go to the morning session and hear tim keller speak again. still ridiculously good stuff. man, he is a smart man.
holly was again awoken by annie, but not to cuddle this time. they just went downstairs to hang out. holly has become quite proficient in making breakfast burritos. holly played the role of housewife today. cleaned the apartment, did the dishes, and fed the children. there was a brief excursion to the volleyball court and a fun adventure involving an explosive diaper. when heather dawn returned from the morning session, she basically pushed holly out the door to go have some alone time. so holly went and parked it at starbucks.
after the morning session, miranda headed to the cafeteria for lunch and then went through the ministry fair tent. basically it is a bunch of vendors handing out information. she ended up with a lot of random paper in her purse. she and her friend steph headed to the campus bookstore where she bought postcards to send to grace & ben (the kids she baby-sits for) and then she met holly at starbucks, where they are currently located.
the rest of the day will include an evening session with just the campus ministry staff for miranda and some more alone time & a run for holly. after the session tonight, holly, miranda & liz are going to hang out with aaron ruder (project friend)....oh aaron ruder. aaron ruder is "special." he is a hunky mess of something. we'll leave it at that for now. suffice it to say, we love him and are excited to hang out with him tonight.
that is all we have for now. hope you all are doing well. we like getting notes back, even if we don't respond right away.
love from the comfy chairs in the foco starbucks-
H & M
