so we have a nice courtyard area outside of our apartment. lots of grass, trees, some picnic tables & grills, swimming pool, tennis courts, etc. it is super nice, especially this time of year.
of course there are also then birds and squirrels, and even the occasional chipmunk, out there and they love to taunt my cat at our patio door. well, this morning, i woke up and wandered out to the living room. i glanced out the patio door and saw about 8 squirrels running around right near our patio. now, it its not unusual for them to be on or near the patio. but 8 was a lot all at one time!
so as i watched them for a while i began to notice something.
they were kind of focusing on the drain pipe near our patio.
in fact they would sit at the end of it, and when another squirrel came near, they would chatter at him or chase him away.
i thought that was strange. and then this squirrel started climbing up on this part of the drain.
and he kept looking in this hole.
yup, there was a squirrel inside! i couldn't get a picture of him, but i did think it was pretty funny! i couldn't tell if he was stuck or just chilling out inside, but i went and got my watering can and poured some water down the drain. i heard a bunch of scratching noises, and then out the bottom comes this wet, sad looking squirrel! he ran immediately off to the nearest tree and hasn't been back since!
it was quite the exciting morning... ;)
